Based on  discussion of automatic testing system，virtual instruments and PXI bus，this paper took a profound research and design for the program of software and hardware and intelligence fault diagnosis.  Experience showed that synthetic testing system for assault vehicle based on PXI bus was a rational and effective scheme，which was better in  practicability，reliability and stabilization to implement  testing and fault diagnosis. At the same time，the characteristics that operational reliability and anti-jamming of the system embodied the advance of the virtual instruments and PXI bus in the area of the automatic testing.  Key words: Assault vehicle；Testing system；Fault diagnosis；ATE；PXI；CPLD
